It's really hard for pop artists to be nominated in the Rock categories, especially now that Rock solo artists and Rock bands will be in the same category: Best Rock Performance.
It was more easy when there was a category for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance:
Janet Jackson was nominated in that category for Black Cat.
Avril was nominated for Sk8ter Boi and Losing Grip.
Michelle Branch was nominated for Are You Happy Now?
And P!nk won for "Trouble".
I think Lady Gaga has a chance in the ROck field with You & I. Best Rock performance. I'm almost sure she wont get in the General Field this year and she will pick up genre category nods. They'll probably make her the sole solo act in that category too.
Bon Iver, Foo Fighters got the rock field on lock. No chance. And You & I isn't really rock.

If the electronic/dance category was based on quality and not success, then why Robyn never won in that category before? To be honest Robyn "Dancing on my Own" was better than Only Girl, but Rihanna won because it was more successful and I love Rihanna.

That whole time period was just a dark time for us . To me it depends on what she's up against. There's not a doubt in my mind that she should win Electronic/Dance Album though.

Success does play a bit of a factor in the lessor categories, but not as much as you're thinking it does. I don't know why last year was such a damned mess for the Electronic/Dance categories, though. Only Girl and La Roux both winning were just mistakes.
Sadly "Party Rock Anthem" is the front-runner for Dance Recording. It's just too huge to be ignore :-\
If GaGa is submitted / nominated with BTW she could also win but if Judas is the one that is nominated then she will lose.
