It's really not catchy, very dated and just all over the place.
It gains well on radio because it's new.
Country stations will never play it.
Pop stations will play only up to some point, but it won't be smashing on pop.
Hot AC yes, but that's not enough.
It was performed on a few shows already and never got into itunes hot 100 after them.
VMA is obviously a bigger market, so the exposure will do it good for the week following the VMA
After that I'm pretty sure it will be quickly dying on itunes and stalling on radio.

Let me take this post down in one swoop.
VMAs is not the only chance to save it, because it doesn't need saving. It's doing very well for it only having a video and EARLY promotion before it became a single.
You realize music videos don't do much for songs, unless it's a really good video. It was around the 120s before the video, now is in the top 15 after
The chorus is definitely catchy, and it may sound outdated, but it sounds like nothing on the radio atm, which is why the radio is so eager to play it.
Born This Way (Country Version) charted in the top 75 without being added there, and this is a lot more country than that song, so of course Country will play it.
You say that, but obviously Pop is disagreeing with you, since its getting 1.2M+ AI from pop BEFORE the adds date, and is getting the BIGGEST spins increase of all current pop songs on it.
I agree on HOT AC playing it, and that'll give it the edge for You & I possibly becoming her first song peaking over 120M+ AI
It was performed on a few shows BEFORE it became a single. Even a year before the album actually came out, back in 2010. Now that it's gaining, it's not looking back at all. You may stay mad now
