That's too soon if she's planning on doing Cheers as a single. But it'd actually be perfect considering how great September releases can be for the upcoming holiday season. They allow time for the holiday season to be taken advantage of.

Now you're wrong. Cheers and Fading are too risky to be released. We need something that has smash written all over it since MD and CKB totally bombed, and neither Cheers nor Fading meet that requirement.

Kevin Rudolf confirmed it, there's photographic evidence, and Rihanna tweeted a couple times about being in the studio. And I doubt Def Jam would let her do a sixth album since Loud has huge potential.
She did say "same era, new music" and Cheers isn't new music, so she had to have meant an EP.

Cheers is the most universal song on Loud. Why would they waste it? All her other songs are more lenient to the female audience at least this is a song for everybody. Plus it's summer, people are out partying in clubs.

New music could definitely mean new single. Besides, we all know Rih isn't the most literate pop star out there. She could be just as confused as all of us right now. 
But let me also mention that until Def Jam states otherwise, Cheers isn't a single. It hasn't been sent for adds and it's not even been talked about by anyone. As far as we know this is just two random stations adding the song for the hell of it. It happens all the time.
