Some people are just...a little slow. You can't expect everyone to think like you now can you?

Oh hell no. I'll keep it cute for now, but you best not insult Ms. Adele any further.
But to a point, yes. History is typically made by doing something big and ground-breaking. Gaga wouldn't have made the massive impact she had if she didn't use her outspoken attitude and sometimes rebellious style in her videos and songs. It just wouldn't happen. She possibly would still be popular, but she would not be at the same caliber she is today. People like change, but people have to get in it and change it themselves, not ask nicely for everyone to consider it, cause it won't always work that way. So yes, I agree with it.

Yes they are considered pop. Pop stands for POPULAR CULTURE, which all of them are apart of. Their music crosses certain genres, but they are ultimately still apart of the pop girls. Don't try to check me hun.

whitney will not be said in this thread ever again
anywho nothing is 100% true but this statement does hold weight...a lot of famous women in history had to go against the grain or be "bad" and they are remembered for it.

Just because she is a coke head now doesn't mean she wasn't well behaved during the peak of her career.

Aww sweetie. I'm sorry. They are not pop star in the traditional sense/definition of the word. When you say Whitney, Shania, etc, you think Diva, not pop star. Mkay? Thanks sweetie

Your personal definition of a pop star is not the rule.

Sweetie i have every janet album. Do you even read the lyrics? Have you been to a show? Have you seen superbowl? Have you paid attention to the issues Janet has shed light on in her music? Research is a must sweetie.

There are so many women, like Oprah, who invalidate this statement. It doesn't say pop stars, btw.

Why? Let's keep it cute now will we? That woman is remembered for her tremendous voice, her flawless vocal technic and all that got destroyed because of her addiction.
Don't try to act like that's what makes her a legend, because it is what partially destroyed her status, she was already Whitney's IWIALY before we knew about her drugs problem, she was already the female singer with the most awards ever before we knew about her problems.
And @Monster, it's not even a question Celine and whitney are the very definition of POP music. And actually Celine barely ever did another genre.

Rihanna treats her fans and everyone around her in a great way as well. Just because she answers to haters she's now a vilain?

You're not very familiar with what pop means. They are very much pop stars because they made POPULAR music.

take out the drug abuse and whitney was still shady, and outspoken...there are too many instances of this behavior from her and it is HILARIOUS
