To be honest, 2 weeks seems perfect for the video release. If her AI continues to increase at the current rate, it will be at 90-100M in 2 weeks. I think that'd be the perfect time. Well, perhaps not 2 weeks, rather a week and a half, but still. 1 week minimum; let it climb to 80M at least.

And yet...I feel if Marry The Night would have been released at that time and in that fashion, it would have performed worse than BTW. The only song I can see performing better is The Edge Of Glory, but the oversaturation of that song upon release would have murdered TEOG, too. I still think Born This Way was the right choice, for a lot of different reasons.

I think so. I remember her saying Marry The Night was intended to be the lead single, but she changed it because she thought BTW would be best suited. To be honest, I think it was a genius idea. She smashed on name with BTW, regardless of its commercial appeal, leaving Marry The Night (a very commercial song) to be released post-album-release to keep the album going.

I still stand by my opinion that it was the perfect lead. She established an unprecedented hit out of a non-commercial song, leaving the commercial songs for release to stabilise album sales. Perfect plan.
