I've said on numerous occasions that we cannot reference Bad Romance when it comes to measuring GaGa's selling power, BTW is her first true test and she's performing extremely well. We have to remember that GaGa is still a relatively new artist, since the release of TFM she's been building her fanbase. I think this release has cemented her status, and has shown the world just how popular she has become. I don't understand the logic that so many people used when making predictions for BTW's sales, many presumed that because Bad Romance got off to a lack-lustre start that BTW would too. GaGa's days of having slow-burners are over, her future singles can be expected to be far more front-loaded, as will her albums.
