The entire "Britney" era was doomed do to media giant, Clearchannel blacklisting Britney on Pop radio (her lone radio support). She didn't use Clearchannel as a promoter for the "Dream Within A Dream" Tour and in response they did some shady business behind the scenes. They had Z100 and KIISS FM refuse to spin Britney songs and ignore the requests made by fans. Clearchannel was nearly taken to court over the whole thing.
Once the ITZ era came, they let up with their vendetta and started to play Britney against on Pop Radio. In result, we get Toxic as a #1 CHR/TOP 40 smash, but we already see the decrease in albums sales do to illegal downloading and the emergence of digital songs. Physical singles became a thing of the 20th century at this point and as we can tell now, iTunes and other digital stores rule the sales for singles.
Let me remind you that physical singles back in the day didn't cost no $.99 or $1.29 like we pay for $3-$7, almost the cost of a full album. By making people save their money to spend on albums, we seen Britney sell over 10 million for each of her first two albums. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
Every time I hear the story about Clearchannel blacklisting Britney I still feel like...
if they worked their asses off they could edit it in a few days.
'Piece Of Me' was released barely a week after the shooting, if I'm not wrong, and I still remember haters claiming it deserved an Oscar for all the "visual effects".
So I'd say is possible to premiere it at least in 10 days. Maybe January 31 is the date?
I don't think we should be worried about the album being released later than March. Britney's team always records close to the album's release. They did it with Circus and does anyone remember that she was supposed to record a song with Timbaland and Justin Timberpressed just a couple months before Blackout's release (she cancelled, smart move though I wouldn't have wanted to work with them)
