I love Martin Luther King Jr. dont get me wrong but MLK day I can never remember because it doesnt actually have a 'set" date and it seems like my school doesnt appreciate him as teachers have to come in to work still. Rihanna is actually Barbadian, so the example doesn't really work - but I get what you're trying to say (that he's an important figure, which he most certainly is).

Regardless of Rihanna being from Barbados she would've been discriminated against since she's darker-skinned. The discrimination was pretty much entirely skin-color related.

GORL! The point was that black barbadians were right along in the mix with black americans regarding racism whether it be slavery or the oppression. Holy crap. Don't be insecure; no one is here to "try your intelligence;" this is simple stuff. Lawd.
