Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys
Look Alive, Sunshine
Well, this is just an introduction. There’s no point in reviewing this, it’s just some guy talking. The whole album + the music videos have a storyline that I am sure is interesting to some, but I don’t really care.

Na Na Na
Horrible lyrics. They are just singing random words

. There’s no denying it though, it is VERY catchy.

. I can see why they choose this as the first single, it really draws you in. The chorus is just life. The bridge is ok, but it gets better as it goes on. The guitar towards the end sounds AMAZING. It’s very high-pitched, it almost sounds like a flute.
Favorite Line – “Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na”

Bulletproof Heart
His singing at the start is great. It’s a catchy tune. The song makes me want to sing along

. The instrumental is really nice and despite it being a “touching” song, it’s very happy to listen to. The chorus is great and the end of the chorus shows me that the lead singer’s voice is actually pretty good. They are a band so obviously his vocals are more yelly and screechy than other artists but it really sounds good in this song. The bridge is just ok, but the last chorus is…

. The song clearly has more substance than Na Na Na.
Favorite Line – “Gravity don’t mean too much to me. “

Sing
Interesting Instrumental. It seems to be some kind of “empowering” song. The synth in the back is cool. I’m not feeling this song much. A lot of people seem to like this song (it’s the second single), but I think it’s just average. This song is one of their more pop sounding songs so I recommend it to those who aren’t that into Rock.
Favorite Line – “You’ve got to sing what tomorrow brings!”

Planetary (GO!)
It sounds like Nicki Minaj’s Massive Attack at the start lol. The beat is hawt. I have no words, this song is amazing. The synth in the background is life. This is definitely the best song yet. It’s fast-paced and the melody is great. Even the bridge is great. The chorus after the bridge sounds great because he starts to sing in a high-pitched manner in the background.
Favorite Line – “If my velocity starts to make you sweat, then just don’t let go.”

The Only Hope for Me Is You
It’s very “airy” and quiet. The start of the song is just his voice and a loud synth blaring, no guitar. The rest of the band starts when the chorus begins, it’s a nice melody. What makes me like this song is his voice. It’s just the way he says the words, it’s nice to listen to

.
Favorite Line – “Remember Me!”

Jet Star and The Kobra Kid/Traffic Report
Interlude with guy talking again.

Party Poison
Some lady speaking in Japanese at the start

. Nothing really stands out about this song, just a typical rock song in my opinion. The random Japanese is the only thing unique about this song.
Favorite Line –“ This ain’t a party, get off the dance floor”.

Save Yourself, I’ll Hold Them Back
Very quiet at the start, sorta creepy. Same as Party Poison, nothing stands out.
Favorite Line – “Will you burn the star if it takes all night?”

S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W
It’s a very soft song in general. I hate the lyrics, they scare me a bit

. Which sucks because I love the song. His voice is changed to make it sound like he is underwater during the verses, it’s really cool. The pre-chorus is a really good buildup to the chorus which is very mellow and soothing.
Favorite Line – “Everybody Hide”

Summertime
As the title suggests, it’s pretty mellow and airy. The instrumental is nice as is the chorus. It’s pretty happy compared to the rest of the album, it’s a nice break from the gloomy sound of some of the previous songs.
Favorite Line - none

Destroya
Some sort of tribal noises in the beginning. Let me just say I’m like 99% sure you guys won’t like this song. It’s very loud and one of those yelly and screamy stereotypical rock songs but it is still good. Lots of emotion as expected.
Favorite Line – Destroya, Destroya, Destroya…..you get the point

The Kids from Yesterday + Vampire Money
Yawn to both songs.

Overall
Danger Days is a pretty big departure from the band's previous albums. It is filled with lots of synthesizers and vocal affects which turned off a good portion of their loyal fans. Some of their songs are starting to crossover into the "Pop" region. I didn't think it was a bad direction but this album was far from perfect. First of all, the name sucks.....hard. They seriously could not come up with something better?

. Also, the album as a whole is too depressing for me. This is not the kind of music I can listen to on a regular basis. I felt as if there were too many filler songs toward the end and it sort of ruined the album. However, the peaks of the album were great. I never really noticed that Gerard (lead singer) has a pretty good voice. I'm glad I listened to the album for it had some great songs and unfortunately, some really bad ones. I can't give it a high score because of it's inconsistency but the album was definitely a surprise for me.
