If GaGa pulls Katy-style promo and has her success with her lead single and releases the album right off the heels of that single, I can see her legitimately doing 450k.
But that is pushing it...a lot. I just want her to definitely get that number one album.
Europe and a lot of Asia, esp. Japan, will snap up the album like hotcakes. That's for sure. It remains to be seen how the U.S. audience will respond to a gay friendly anthem. But I have a good feeling.
The Grammys are likely to draw high ratings this time since Eminem , Katy, Rihanna & Gaga are nominated in major categories. Plus the 60 minutes interview that night (exposing her to an older audience), the Vogue cover and tons more stuff I'm sure Interscope has planned. She has some great promo opportunities. I just want her to hustle her ass off for this album. I really wish she didn't have to tour in the spring, but oh well..
I honestly do not believe the US will embrace 'Born This Way' to the fullest unless she is similar to her The Fame days. Gaga once said that the US does not understand her the way the UK does (something along those lines). Unless her first single is on the line of Just Dance or Tik Toc, I don't think she is going to have that smash #1.
Then again, this is her big debut single. So maybe I'll be surprised. As the poster above noted, she has a lot of promo coming up as well. So she should be more than fine
