Well this is my first review =D And its for Utada's Ultra Blue

1. This is Love - The opening track on the album. I love this song proably my 3rd favorite on the album the beaat is fast paced and Utada's Vocals make this song a great song to listen to.

2.Keep Trying- At first i thought i'd hate it but i liked it half way through. The chorus is my favorite part of the song =D

3. My favorite song on the album or my second favorite cant decide.. I love how she sings softly at some points in the song and then becomes aggressive and then back to the soft voice.

4.日曜の朝 I liked it but it wasn't a song id listen to over and over again.

5.Making Love- With a piano intro i thought it would be a ballad but then a guitar beat kicks in and it turns out to be an awesome song.

6.A piano ballad song. I don't like ballads so i didn't really listen to it that much but her voice is great as usual.

7.Colors- I love this song for some reason. It must be the beat !

8.One Night Magic- features Yamada Masashi, who he is i have no clue, but this song is my 4th favorite.

9.海路- I love this song the orchestra beat is great and pairs greatly with Utada's Vocals and singing style i don't usually like ballads either.

I'll do the rest in a few minutes

Ok well, I found some info that I never knew about Utada and maybe you guys haven't either.

Apparently, Utada's Dad and Kiriya (Ex- husband) hated each other. They had a power struggle on who should be helping Utada the most. Utada's dad felt that Kiriya was just married to Utada to leech off of her huge popularity.

Utada's income for 2004 was 1 billion yen, about 12.3 million US dollars today
Utada's total income since the start of her career up to the middle of 2007 is at least 10 billion yen, about 123 million US dollars and is most likely higher.

(The conversion to US dollars is not completely accurate because inflation and deflation from these years was not considered in the calculations, therefore they could be higher or lower )

Keiko Fuji, Utada's mother, has a very bad habit of spending a lot of money on shopping sprees and gambling away all of her money. These issues may have something to do with Utada's grandmother's situation. If I find anything more, I'll let you guys know

It hit #1 on radio airplay on it's first day in the radios.

I'm not so worried about Goodbye Happinesses success anymore


And also, who was the person that told me that iTunes is not big in Japan? It is the #1 music provider in Japan. I knew there was something fishy about the "iTunes isn't popular in Japan" claim.

Edit- Nvm, those are PC downloads. The counting system is annoying in Japan

But anyways, Goodbye Happiness is not doomed.

iTunes sales are relatively irrelevant in Japan. Other PC sites are way more popular than iTunes. All PC digital sales together (including the few PC iTunes sales) comprise the RIAJ Digital Top 100.

However, PC record sales are only a small margin of the total digital sales in Japan. Therefore, RIAJ Top 100 itself is not that important.

What really matters are mobile downloads, and the charts for those can be found in Chaku- Uta & Chaku- Uta Full.

Overall, including PC & rigntone sales (full & not full), Japan is still the biggest digital market in the world. But for PC sales only, the US is at #1 according to IFPI, as of 2009. Before 2008, Japan was the leading force even for PC sales only, even though they were always of lesser importance there.
