I do think they were being severe with her, but aside from "Like You'll Never See Me Again," the As I Am era was pretty useless. I used to think she was very overrated, but I get her now. Some of her songs are just stunning.

Geez hit it right on the head when he listed all of her accomplishments that I didn't know in his blog. I knew she had a ton of Grammys, but I didn't know how many or that she had the same amount as Bey; all I had known for sure is that she had been part of the 5-Grammys-in-one-night female tie before Bey broke it.

Alicia is BEYOND overrated. Everything after Diary has been incredibly stagnant and bland.

Agreed. I know Madonna is really famous (far more than Janet) and she had a bigger career. That still doesn't make her better in my opinion. Janet is way better from her music to her performances. She influenced far more artists too. I like some of Madonna's videos though. They're really creative. I like that she's forward thinking and that she reinvents herself from time to time. I'll give her that.
