Hell there are plenty of J and K-pop songs that sound like they could have been produced right here in America for that matter, only thing sounding different would be the language the singer is singing in.
Same goes for songs from other countries like European countries.
And since there are tons of songs that sound like it could have very well come from other countries (especially since even within that country there are tons of different kinds of music) overall music is just music. Each and every song has a different sound and quirk and is unique.
Which is why I didn't buy the "I can get into K-pop but not J-pop" line.
I take it he'll be releasing a new album pretty soon, since this is the first single he has released in a while. I hope he does, because this is the first song I've heard from him and it is great.

Yes, it is true that there are a lot of songs that sound the same. However, a culture definitely influences the music it prouces and as I stated before, this could be the deciding factor. Yes, you can probably find at least one song from every country that you like but you may like a lot more from a certain country than another.
It's human nature to have preferences and as I said before it's not like I despise K-pop irrationally. BoA is one of my favs .
Btw I said I like J-pop more than K-pop, not vice-versa .
^^ Uverworld is awesome. Another good male artist (band) is Nightmare and also Arc n' ciel (i feel like I mispelled that). The lead singer of T.M revolution is good too, he has other fronts besides this band like Abingdon Boys School.
1. Video removed by user
2. Slays Ayu? Show me live vocals first of all not some studio magic
3. Chick can't be the new Queen of J-pop because she hasn't got anything on Ayu.
skip to 2:20 to hear them vocals hun.
but yeah I'll have to say jpop has more of a variety then kpop....when it comes to different genre,So I think jpop is overall more interesting.
The only problem I have jpop is that the theme are repetitive.
Always the "I miss you" songs, etc.
Flow is a great male-band too
What do you guys think of Mika Nakashima> it seems like she's not as popular as she was anymore. She's amazing though.
Haha, I know K-POP is pretty popular in the Philippines.
J-POP >>>>>>>>> K-POP, just saying
Eh?! Both "genres" aren't my cups of tea but KPOP always manufactures novelty, in my sense of taste, which is why some songs are forgiven from my total distaste of their whole act. JPOP's overall dance scene is a mess , but I can mention one Japanese song that really made a mark WW and that was "Feel Like Dance" by globe. Utada used to be so effing huge too, at least her name was magnified here despite bagging one smash locally (1st Love). I also loved the theme song for a Japanese drama that was bought by a national TV station, talking about "Precious Time".
