Oh ok.
Because EW said the Telephone and Bad Romance videos were as good as Thriller, and called the Monster Ball one of the best concerts of all time ( their words, not mine, since you cite them as a source). Newsweek said she is the first person since MJ to redefine music videos for her generation. Time put her on its cover. Rolling Stone, the New York Times, the LA Times, the Wall St Journal and other major publications have all praised her.

No, it's artistically generic, and many artists have done it. But I would say that it shows off her talents. Still, GaGa has not done anything musically groundbreaking. Her music is cookie-cutter. Until she touches up on topics such as drug abuse, domestic violence, warfare, etc. instead of making "fun pop music," then I'd give her more credit than I'm giving her.

You GaGa fans give her way too much credit. Yes, she's huge. Yes, she has some good pop songs, but nothing groundbreaking. "The God and the Gays" talk is not groundbreaking.

All of those albums have a different concept behind them and don't sound the same. These girls are only aware of what's going on today. They need to learn their history before stating frivolous BS.

I'm confused. You're arguing that Janet has a better discography when Lady GaGa has only released two records. The Janet albums you are praising so much were albums that she released AFTER her first two albums didn't fare too well on the charts. Control was released 4 years after her first album was released....GaGa has only been in this game for 2 and has been owning since.
Not to mention both of GaGa's releases were also critically acclaimed and they both had different concepts to them. I don't see your argument here.

because it is too much for your limited intellect, it is the truth, how can someone be called ground breaking or very artistic if she doesn't even tries to change what is wrong with her influence

Go back to Haus_Nicole's (or whatever his name) post. He questioned Janet's catalog, and I gave him the deal.

How on earth is it generic when nobody does that anymore? Show me an artist who has completely reworked their own original song that they wrote into a completely new acoustic piano ballad version of the song. It might have been done in the past, but nobody is doing that nowadays and she stands out because of it.
Her music isn't cookie-cutter, you only say that because it is pop music. And if she has to sing about "drug abuse, domestic violence, & warfare" [ are you serious?] to be considered not generic to you, then
She makes fun pop music while delivering a message through the song as well as the video. But you obviously can't see that because you're a hater.

Considering how our society has treated homosexuals, and especially considering how religious, God-worshipers have treated homosexuals, it is pretty groundbreaking to include the two together since it's usually a taboo, unheard of subject to have the two of them in the same sentence especially when Christians make them seem like their polar opposites.

Wow. How did I miss that. Sorry to burst your bubble but Telephone & Bad Romance shouldn't even be uttered in the same sentence as Thriller. EW fails as usual. Don't buy the hype.

You don't have to be writing and singing songs about politics or certain social issues to express your artistry. I believe that Gaga has done sex artistically. Her songs are not the same cheap sexually-charged pop songs I used to hear from the lesser girls.

Really? I love Paparazzi, Poker Face, Just Dance, Bad Romance & Telephone. But Alejandro was just...

Delusional. Several artists have done and are still doing it. Sht, Jeremih did something similar with "Birthday Sex."
Would I lie?

I guess he's great "artistically" too.
I'm not even going to continue much of this debate because most of these are opinions and we have yet to see what GaGa can do (which I find it laughable that people are trying so hard to diss Janet when she has the music catalog to back up), but please don't make her music more than what it is. It just shows how oblivious you are to real artistic merit.

DEATH at you bringing up the COMPLETELY irrelevant Jeremih. Really? I thought we were talking about "generic pop music" and you bring me some one-hit wonder R&B artist who nobody cares about anymore?
And he didn't even do anything incredibly different with that song. Stupid.
I haven't even dissed Janet once, but some of the stuff y'all haters are saying is purposefully & intentionally combative and utterly ridiculous.
You comparing GaGa & Jeremih (I still can't get over this one) shows how OBLIVIOUS you are to "real artistic merit." Who made you the decider of who a real artist was?

Has Janet? I don't care how long she's been around, that's not the question (which is beside the point anyway because in my lifetime the main thing I remember her doing isn't make music but "accidentally" bare her nipple on live TV).

Honey, you said nobody has done much of what GaGa's done, and I pulled out someone who is at least capable of doing something similar. Whether Jeremih is irrelevant is irrelevant. He was used as an example. I don't think either one of them are, so there goes that theory.

Shut up, she is a pop star, not a president, she's not here to change the world. But in music world, her songs and videos are groundbreaking.
