Not sure how I feel about this one. I think there are some beautiful shots scattered throughout, and stylistically it's very appealing, but certain things make the video seem unpolished to me. My biggest beef would be with some of the sonic elements (the violin intro not matching up with the music as it comes in) and the awkward arrangement the song was given to support certain extended scenes. In a way, I feel like that sort of stuff killed the flow of the song. Truly though, I think that's to be expected with Gaga's work. I feel as though she almost always gives excessive thought to style and storytelling and forgets that the whole point of a music video is to supplement the song in the form that the general public knows and appreciates it, not some 10 minute long extended edit of a track that's filled with blank drum beats and repeating hooks in order to accommodate elaborate themes and motifs.

Anyway the video is a very interesting depiction of religion and it's role in sexual repression, though I really believe that at times we try and read too much into certain elements of Gaga's videos.

People who understand the message of the video won't be turned off. And also, she's not promoting "gay love" in the video.....she's showing how "gay love" is perceived by many and how wrong it is.

I didn't skip over it, I just think it makes no sense.
