Viewershipwise, and in line with earlier numbers, the 74th annual Globes bopped up 8% from last year’s final numbers on a night that saw films that many viewers have likely not had a chance to see taking home big wins. The final demo results rose 17% from the unadjusted fast affiliates of earlier today.
I mean considering that they blocked almost every viable option of watching it unless you watched it live, I would only assume their ratings would go up because nobody had any other way of watching except to tune in.
Regardless, heavy-handed tactics like this is not the way to get people to watch live tv again imo. Streaming is the future and these companies will eventually have to adapt or die. They could have easily made a deal with Hulu to stream live for subscribers and the numbers probably would have been even bigger.
Glad to see it increase! Gaga made the Golden Globes relevant again, so of course everyone tuned in mistakingly thinking she would be on again this year.
