No, most homeless people are in actual fact scams here in Milan, but I know a girl who once gave a homeless man in Milan a €20 bill to feel ~poor in second person~
Fight them? Who fights a person that can't even fight their way into an unemployment line? Anyways, I give them money whenever I can, you never know if the person is faking, but it's still good to have hope.
If I have change, I'll give them enough money to get food but that's it. You really shouldn't give them large sums because you don't know where it's going.
Not unless they physically approach me tbh.
I was on campus one time and there was a homeless person (you could really tell he was homeless) who approached me asking for some money to buy food and I gave 2 bucks and some change and the bag of chips I was eating. (I had a twenty in my wallet but I'm not that generous).
The ones with the signs will probably never see a penny from me
I do try to give a little when I'm able to give a little, which isn't every time, but I'll always be polite and friendly in my interactions with the homeless. And I know that some people we encounter won't be genuine, but most people in those situations do need the help and don't deserve to be negatively impacted because of a few scammers here or there.
