And then you add in streaming and Weeknd is ahead.

Weeknd is doing 3.5x more streams than Bruno per week in US, and the margin is probably bigger WW since Bruno has terrible streams worldwide this era.
& dd; the only people I've seen rant on and on about "Spotify payola!" are my Monsters since Million Reasons flopped. Streaming is the way to measure success now, pls stop being delulu.

I finally listened to The Weekdy's album. I purchased it a week or so ago but am now on vacation so...
It's kind of disturbing how similar he sounds to MJ.
A female artist couldn't serve Rockwell's Somebody's watching me teas and get away with it.
Yeah he definitely has 4 more hits but I feel like it was nothing I haven't heard before

Nobody is saying otherwise, just saying that artists can literally inflate their streams through playlists, for example, The Weeknd had 4 songs in Spotify's biggest playlist release week + all the playlists in the main page had his songs (like, there was a "Dark Punk playlist" placed that week and the two first songs were The Weeknd's collabs, they had no shame) + a big ass banner of his new album on release week VS a regular release by BruNO with just one song being put on playlists.

Good point, but I think it is the same with iTunes banners and all. I think it should still count as promotion. It's not like they're literally buying streams.

Speaking of slumber parties, I heard that song for the first time yesterday. It has some reggae influences, I feel.

It's not the same though, on iKoons you need to buy the song/album. Here you just click a playlist and get shoved whatever Spotify wants (I do it all the time tbh).

The SPS developments are great. Finally all countries will matter again, not just the US and UK.

So simple and clean.
Not only is it one of the best sounding albums of the year but it also has one of the best covers.

You're making it seem as if Weeknd wouldn't have STOMPED Bruno in streams even without playlists and promo.
Weeknd is all over Spotify playlists and promo because he brings in huge streams. Beauty Behind the Madness proved he's currently relevant, and a big artist on streaming.
Weeknd is #1 in listeners, Bruno is #11 in listeners. Starboy (song) has 420m streams, 24K Magic (song) has 204m streams.
And some artists get more promotion, performances, discounts, etc from their labels to boost their sales than other artists so I'm not getting the point of discrediting streaming because the same thing happens.

Literally nobody is discrediting streaming?
I'm just pointing out the fact that streams can be and are being altered by playlists (which artists can pay for a position on them). This is a fact, literally every single song that is on the Top Hits playlist is charting on the Top 200 of Global Spotify.

I didn't like the cover at first but it's really grown on me, it fits the album perfectly.

BruNO had a televised GRAMMY win (+ performance) a week before/after the Superbowl though.

The fact that "Just Hold On" (a tragic unlistenable song and the artist is a nobody) is #18 on the WW Spotify chart proves how powerful Spotify payola is
Those are all 'accidental' streams by people clicking those playlists, nobody would be seeking out to stream that song on their own
