Britney was still a huge celebrity in 2008 and everyone was hyped for the 'old Britney' to come back. People liked the music and it's why it was successful. Everyone was excited for the 'old Britney' to come back on tour which is why that ended up being so successful. Like I said, Britney could've been relevant today but she ruined her career on her own and it's understandable since she was going through severe issues that we know nothing about.
With the FF era... HIAM opened with huge numbers and then plummeted. FF's first week predictions actually lowered after her promo performances during album release week.

FFT flopped because everyone knew how much of a shite performer she was after attending the Circus tour.
