I have been obsessed with Ariana Grande since Victorious. I had a stupid Nick phase and loved too many shows there and when I realized she had an amazing voice, I loved that she was signed on for her first single Put Your Hearts Up. I'm seriously so happy that she's doing as well as she is now because she truly deserves it! When I saw this song performed on SNL, I was immediately in love. The performance was beautiful and the song felt like a very unique style. At some point, someone made a comparison of her being the Mariah Carey of the latest generation and I definitely agree! If you've been putting off giving her a chance (please tell me your secret, because she's always on the radio!), please do try! The album had some very strong tracks but this was probably my favorite from first listen.
Fifth Harmony - "Work From Home"
Okay, this album was so weak but this song was definitely a song I knew had to be on my list when I first heard it. It's not only sexy (because what popular songs aren't?) but it's catchy and, appropriately, I found it on a playlist called Work. It was such a great discovery to find so many great songs mentioning work that seemed to make work go faster and making me more productive, while having alternative undertones. For the media here, I want to share Lilly Singh. If you do not love her already on YouTube, somehow you've been under a deeper rock than me. She's hilarious and I am pretty sure so many south asians relate to her, especially these kind of reaction videos where she pretends to be her parents. I think my initial reactions are always like her moms...
Gwen Stefani - "Make Me Like You"
This 8-bit version is the best way I like to remember this song... with no recollection of Gwen Stefani being part of this song. It's weird for me to see her go from No Doubt to Hollaback Girl to... this. I know, a lot has happened between each jump, and we can certainly say she's versatile, but I saw her doing push ups on stage for no particular reason. This and most of the stuff released this year by her seemed like any other pop star could have released it, and it was just weird. Still addictive and I am sure many people, including myself, can relate to having someone make you like them.
Be Alright is def the best song from the album! And Work From Home has a sick beat. Great summer song for March. Fit in perfectly with Batman v Superman .
