I speak English, but I've taken courses in Spanish, German, and Latin. I also have other experience speaking Spanish, because almost my entire family can speak it.

To answer the question, Spanish is my mother tongue and I'd say I can write and speak English fluently. I've been studying Mandarin Chinese for the past eighteen months. The first year was all about pinyin and spoken Chinese. This year I started learning how to write characters. I love it!

This look EXTREMELY intersting ....i love learning about other cultures, especially those that the US has problems with..... it's amazing how much political propoganda can skewer your perception of a place by flooding the media with repetitive and negative stories...... the biggest shock to me was how rich and influential middle eastern culture has been throughout history

I, however, should clarify that I do not support the Chinese government in any certain way. But I would never attempt to export Western-style democracy to a country whose citizens have never known throughout history the meaning of individual freedom. That said, it is indeed interesting to learn about different countries and cultures from a non-Western perspective. Glad to see you found it interesting.

A classmate referred this book once but I never got to look at it closely. Mmmmm....... Maybe I'll give it a shot this time.

On topic, I just started taking Spanish lessons last month and to be honest, things aren't looking so impressive.
I've known to be speaking two local languages, both of which are not relevant to the global medium of communication. Then comes the English.
