In general what Ruth should be doing is posing artistic suggestions to a professional director. That way we would get the best of both worlds. Interesting visuals thanks to Ruth and professional directing thanks to a real music video director that knows his/her stuff.

I'm not talking about 7 minute music videos. In fact I prefer shorter mv's.
It's not necessarily about how good the mv is. It's about the quality of the editing, angles, shooting etc..it's all over the place. You can tell that PI was directed by a newbie in the music video directing field. The other clips you provided are arguably bad but you cannot say they are not professionally shot. They feel consistent and well shot despite being boring.
