I've never heard Formation on the radio but I heard Sorry on the radio a lot during May and June. The Tidal exclusive really killed Formation.
Even if the song and video caused controversy, it was not a smash hit.

Ok, now lets get back to reality. She didn't release it on spotify, she didn't unlist it on vevo, she didn't officially send it to radio. She sabotaged her own singles time after time and as a result their success has fallen far short of their potential. Hypothetical what if doesn't suddenly make it one of most popular songs of the year when a dozens other tracks had better radio success, streaming and sales & thus is more known by the GP.
