Welp, time to release Dancin' In Circles or John Wayne
You do realize those songs would flop too right? NOTHING on Joanne is a hit. The only song that has minor hit potential is/was Million Reasons and now they butchered that. Let's just focus on the album having longevity..without singles success...which is truly difficult but w/e.
Joanne is a good album. Just not an album with hits at all.
I still cannot fathom how in the hell they thought A-YO is a better single choice than Million Reasons. RIP Gaga's team.
A-yo would've done better, since it was the original 2nd single and radio had already start playing it + it had a commercial and they would've kept it on air, since a-yo is the single...
would be nice if one random intimate performance like this went viral, like that Beyonce one where she sang Halo
Gaga's tone is polarizing. Bey's voice is smooth and warm like honey. Gaga's can be shrill to some people. It's the number 1 complaint I hear from ppl when it comes to her voice. They always say she has amazing strength and power but they don't like her tone cuz it can be grating to them. so a viral video of a stripped down vocal performance won't be happening any time soon I think. You need to have a universally enjoyable tone to have that.
Though her Sound of Music performance did go viral and it did depend on her voice so I could be totally wrong and I hope it happens!

Yeah, my question was why they thought it was a better single choice. Had they given the same treatment to Million Reasons, it would've been much bigger.
The promo was on-point but it was always gonna be a shortlived boost without any airplay (MR is barely top 400 on radio atm)
GaGa is radio poison and it's clear that radio will only play her if she's doing overwhelmingly well on iTunes/Spotify (a vicious cycle as the song needs airplay to do well in the first place..). Had they sent it to radio in the same week as Carpool Karaoke (instead of waiting for weeks) and gotten it on Today's Top Hits that week, radio wouldn't be as hesitant to play it.
Anyway she should just keep promoting this for a while because it's by far the best song on the album, the song needs all the exposure it can get now that radio refuses to play it.

That (what I bolded), we can agree on. But since this one is going down the cliff, she ought to release a listenable/enjoyable third single from the album before ending the era
