Yeah, they didn't find her identity until they stopped trying to make her the bajan beyonce.
They made it seem like Beyonce was clearing Usher confession numbers or something.
For all the promotion and good media coverage and all those singles Beyonce was still getting outsold by Norah, Carrie, Taylor, Gaga etc.
I knew once Rihanna became herself more she'd flourish.
The GP needed a black female that was not boring, edgy, exotic and versatile.
We got Rihanna who slays pop, dance, r&b (her weakest but still), a/c and hip hop with flares of rock and country and is convincing while doing all of it.
Her first two albums had gems:
