Those might not be the final figures, but it seems pretty clear what happened.
The republican vote dropped with Trump, but the dems dropped even further.

Blame has to go to Hillary and the DNC - no one else.

The question is... who were Clinton's missing millions? Is there a demographic we can pinpoint? As if so we need a candidate representing it to run in 2020 alongside someone with links to the rust belt.

I lowkey hated when Hillary said in her speech that we should be united. She, better than anyone, should know that we're just not capable of uniting under that man. I know it's what she should have done and no one should blame her for it, but it's where we are now. We are not a united country and I hope we won't be for a his whole term.

This. The idea that people who didn't vote are the loudest protesters is a bit unfounded, especially considering that Hillary did win the popular vote after all. Some of you need to stop denying there is a disconnect between what was wanted and what was chosen.

I don't get blaming the DNC. Hillary won by a huge margin in the primaries. Are you proposing they actually rig the votes and delegates and give them to Bernie. Sorry, democrats liked Hillary better. It was democracy. When people decided to act like they're too good for Hillary, It became a done deal for us.

I mean I would love it if they did rig the votes and declared him the winner as she's too controversial for a general election and everyone can see that. However, that doesn't clear all the vote your conscience or I'm sitting this one out people from the blame. There's plenty of things you can blame for this, but false equivalency has to be the very first on the lost.

You have Sherrod Brown who is very left like Sanders and Warren and popular in his home state of Ohio. The more I think about it, the more I think that he would be a good option.

It's just a tough ask for the Dems as they have to win back the trust of the rust belt and basically show them that what they're wanting is more aligned with left-leaning politics than right-wing and I don't know how you can do that even though it's so true

The DNC should have intervened and made the undemocratic decision of telling Hillary to step down due to her scandals. Though I'm not sure if that would have caused a civil war between the lifelong democrats and the New Democrats and we would end up with president Trump either way

The problem with the DNC is that it clearly colluded with Clinton in the beginning that she was meant to be the candidate. It was her turn. That isn't democratic.

They colluded with the Clinton campaign because they were sure she'd win the primary. They didn't predict someone like Sanders. Either way, no colluding is enough to affect the huge margin she won with.
That's democracy. You don't always get what you want but you pick the closest thing possible. Democrats didn't do that.
Republicans united behind Trump who is far worse so let's not act like this is all the DNC's doing.

You don't have to win back the rust belt.

If you can get a candidate that really invigorates minority groups and latinos more than Clinton did, then you can have Arizona, Georgia, and Texas all turn blue. Add that to states like Florida and North Carolina and you have an electoral college victory of 342/196 without any of those rust belt states back.

**Friendly reminder that Clinton lost Iowa by the same margin as she lost Texas so don't tell me it's unrealistic**
