Anemic turnout from African Americans in Eastern North Carolina + Disproportionate margins in some western Piedmont counties caused NC to go for Trump. A few counties in the economically depressed Southeastern part of the state went to Trump.

Hopefully the next candidate will be able to resonate with people of all socioeconomic. If counties in Southeastern NC like Robeson, Bladen and Richmond stay red, then it's going to be tough for NC to remain a swing state, even with Growth in the urban areas.



It's disappointing, but it's a learning experience.

Dems took the majority on the NC Supreme Court and Cooper appears to have won the governorship. They'll do their best to fix gerrymandering in the state and voter disenfranchisement.

This is what I'm hoping. Even Obama said some things to appeal to coversatives during his initial run. However it's still saddening that America voted for hatred and incompetency.

Yep, it's what I was telling someone else on here. Plus, while Hillary didn't galvanize the minority groups like Obama, I think Bernie would have done even worse. Only things he'd have over Hillary would be the white working class, maybe more younger votes too and a higher likeability, but he'd probably still have lost.

Cooper may or may not have won, but it was really by tight margins. The NC legislature still might have that veto proof majority.
