HIs only messy views are on social issues (abortion, gay marriage, etc.), but even then he's a centrist in many respects. I just see it as another angle for pandering.

Trump made the mistake of making too many promises.

Trump also said he would deport muslims. Just not in the cards.

Trump said he will build a wall. We know he is lying.

Trump also said he would start a trade war with China...that the US cant possibly win. We don't have the manufacturing base, the population, or the education levels to pull that off. Tariffs and lack of education are the reason America got complacent and Asia passed us up on the manufacturing front. We don't have the means to compete at that level yet. It'll be at least a decade or more before we could even hope to dent Asia's massive head start.

I think Trump was pandering but he'll be forced by a Republican congress to pick conservative judges and do the bidding of the republican congress. There are very real consequences. Republican electorate will force Republicans to load up the SCOTUS with bigots.

When Trump is unable to revive the rural rusty America because its structurally not in the cards any time soon then what?

And yeah, I truly don't fear Donald Trump personally. I'm worried about his cabinet + that republican house/senate majority, allowing them to effortlessly **** on poor people. I know a big part of the republican platform is cutting "entitlements" like social security, welfare, lowering wages (they almost ALWAYS oppose raises to the minimum wage, even with inflation ), etc...
