The multiple roles put Timberlake in the unusual position of being something of a guinea pig for his own ability to evoke emotions from the film’s audience. He successfully made himself tear up while watching a scene featuring a performance of the Cyndi Lauper classic “True Colors,” as he explained this afternoon while talking with Deadline’s Dominic Patten during the DreamWorks Animation panel at Deadline’s the Contenders event in West Hollywood.
“‘True Colors’ [is] a beautiful song, and it’s a huge emotional moment in the film,” said Timberlake. “And so I’m watching it and I’m like, ‘Am I … crying? At myself?’ I thought my only opportunity to do that was like a bottle of Jack Daniel’s and a mirror!”
My mother finally sat down and told me that she was not my birth mother. I don't want to get all emotional about it, so I'll stick from the main details. I'm in a new mood currently, and it hurts to be deceived. I love my adopted mother, but I wish she had told me sooner. Turns out my birth mother is a Black Jamaican woman. She introduced me to her recently. She's one of my adopted mother's very old friends. I feel all mixed up, and I'm angry as well. I plan to take this all slowly. I'm a bit confused of who I am right now.
