35. Regresa A Mi



The song received acclaim from critics, with some noting that it opened her appeal to a wider audience.

However, they failed to pick up on one important factor that our very own Spanish speaking Ventitonic noticed – her pronuncia. The good sis says, “Okay no shade to her but the pronunciation It’s very awkward, I wish they could have worked on it because it has potential to be exceptionally beautiful. My All/Mi Todo wins for the spanish guitar ballad translation, poor Toni”. Meanwhile, jdmc218 notes “I don't think she had the same power of her voice like she had in the English version”.

34. Good Life (The Braxtons)



This was the first ever single released by Toni as part of the group she was in with her sisters, The Braxtons. More notably it was their first and only single at the time that was released with all five sisters before Traci got pregnant and had to leave, and Toni got her solo record deal.

It was not a hit, reaching #79 on the Billboard Hot Black Singles Chart as it was known as back then, however it was the song that caught the attention of LA Reid and Babyface. I would say that Toni owes her career to this pivotal moment.

She is amazing. My favourite part was when she asked if anyone in the crowd knew the words to Babyface's part in Hurt You, and that person would join her on stage. Well, some hands went up, then all of a sudden this random guy from the side of the room appears and Toni's like "This guy apparently know all the words".

Cue the song, and it's like they had rehearsed prior to the show, ad-libs and everything.

Let me quickly google the lyrics because all these years I’ve been singing “that’s the way love works if ij gin eye”.

Released as Libra’s 2nd single and written by 2004-5’s hit producer, Bryan Michael Cox, the song failed to emulate the success of his two-monster smashes, Burn by Usher and We Belong Together by Mariah. I’m still salty about that because it was my favourite song of the album, at the time.
