Gaga being outsold by Ariana Grande (also didn't have a hit before the album release) is not "winning".
Not to mention all the promo Gaga had done over the past 3 years; Oscars (x2), Grammys, Superbowl (this year!), was on TV every week on AHS and so on... all that to repair her image and attract new fans and the whole campaign still failed.
Pure sales #s are obviously boosted by the Amazon discount. Would've been around 100k without it.
Joanne probably won't even go gold in sales, again, that's hardly "winning".

What Joanne single or material did she promote on ahs, the oscars, or the Grammys? I was also unaware she did the Super Bowl yet. How was it?

Not bothered. Just find it amusing how quickly the mass mentality went from, "quality music, music she wants, sales don't matter" to "third best female debut this year, no promo but 100k+ in pure sales, discounted but full priced albums are selling, no promo but #1 on iTunes." No malice. Just observations.

Really u need to stop being bitter. She sold on par with Rihanna whilst not having the biggest hit of the years streaming to inflate album sales. Also with only 1 single before the album came out compared to Rihanna's 4.
We are happy we got a very high quality album from our fav and in the end that's all actually matters, but it's nice to celebrate her for managing to sell that amount when no one expected it.

These numbers are really not that bad for her.
The real kii would be if the Amazon discount did anywhere between 20k - 30k.

You know the OGHs have lost when they start getting technical about applying the definition of literally.

These aren't great numbers but they're decent. Once again, don't count your chickens. There's still the 2nd week

Guess those $3 Amazon sales really helped push them sales.

No, it didn't. Not everyone is signed to that box program, not just any Amazon user can buy it for $3

My table consists of female albums that debuted in the Top 10 on the BB200. ANTI didn't debut in the top 10, but it deserved to be mentioned because it's a notable female album in 2016. That's all there is to it.
|
Can you use common sense just for a moment?
TIDAL accidentally made the album available for sale which resulted in it counting as a "first week", which technically it isn't a first week.
I don't know why we're sitting here acting like 460 is a first full week debut.
But anything to boost your ego.
