I highly doubt they're on the shelf. The team member probably looked it up in the inventory. New movie and music releases are literally under lock and key in the backrooms. They even have dates on the boxes that specifically state "DO NOT OPEN TILL (RELEASE DATE)"

Even if someone in the backroom brings it up for purchase, once a cashier scans it, a message will display "Cannot sell till (release date)" There's no way to override it.

One of my coworkers slipped me Florence's new album 3 days before it was released tho...
