p.s. I've always kinda hated her make-up on the Bedtime Stories cover. Hate the heavy, black eyes and blood red lipstick with an otherwise super soft aesthetic. Which I'm sure is the point - and is kinda a nod to "Human Nature", she can be whoever and do whatever, she can be sexy and sweet, or perhaps she was hinting at the future Hard Candy era - the juxtaposition of tough, and delicious.
I get that too. She took such soft, lovely photos during the era and then she also took photos that were so 1-800-DIAL-A-**** The Secret cover doesn't really bother me as much, though. And I get that while her sound softened, it would appear false to just do a complete about-face, aesthetically speaking. I love the line in the Slant review that describes the album as the "creamy balm" after Erotica, "a fluffy-pillowed concept album that unfolds like a musical fairy tale." I don't know what the concept is but all of those words >>>>

A year ago you got her best album yet, she's in one of the year's top grossing films, it came with a whole new novelty record featuring a massive #1 hit, she's on the most-talked about tour of the year, and you have no idea of the slayage coming with The Immaculate Collection.
Yeah, of all years,1990 seems to be the biggest imo as well.
I know how massive she was in 1985 but ,in 1990, she was ,literally,a triple-threat :movie,tour and album (s)/hits(something she tried to do before with WHO'S THAT GIRL but failed miserably due to the massive flop of the movie ).
Ugh , what a slayage !
Ugh I'd live to be like 15 when Like A Prayer came out so I could really experience the utter artistic slayage of the next 17 years with proper understanding and appreciation.

Thank you so much! This is hard dsadsas;
I love Rescue Me. Actually, I remember seeing the maxi-single vinyl in a thrift store a while ago and the cover is breathtaking. Currently I'm torn between Remixed Prayers, La Isla Bonita Super Mix ("Gambler" ), Angel (Gorgeous cover) & Total Satisfaction (because I love the Truth Or Dare photoshoot) .
I also read that Bye Bye Britney is her rarest collectible item but I don't really like the song anymore, so ...
Have ya'll seen this BMW ad (that didn't air) that Madge filmed ages ago? She looks a mess, and that ad is a mess, but worth a watch. I only know about it cause I was forced to write an essay about it.
Here, I'll even let you read my AWFUL essay. Note it's from 2012.

Assignment Three, Question Two: Inalienable (or high) culture & commodity culture are characterised by different ways of seeing & looking at the world.
In BMWs advert both inalienable (or high) culture and commodity culture are represented, characterized by its different ways of seeing and looking at the worldwhile simultaneously over-lapping in some ways (BMW Advert). Inalienable culture is represented by the BMW brand, a luxurious car brand that specializes in designing and selling expensive vehicles, while commodity culture is represented by the pop singer Madonna who epitomizes the commodity culture logic of appealing to the masses. Conversely inalienable culture, as its name suggests, is focused on appealing to only a specific superior audience and takes certain skills or backgrounds to truly understand or appreciate it.
Inalienable culture is depicted as something that is better than anything else in the BMW advert because the BMW car used is portrayed as faster, sturdier, easier to drive and more resilient than any other vehicle. This illustrates the world view of inalienable culture because it values timelessness shown by the cars classic design and complexity which was highlighted in the numerous situations the car can handle, such as swerving, accelerating and drifting 180 degrees. Madonnas disapproval at her limousines black colour and approval of the BMWs white colour is a nod to inalienable cultures favour of the unique, something that cannot be (or often isnt) easily replicated. Moreover, because of inalienable cultures world view requiring specific knowledges/skills to be truly appreciative of it, one could not fully appreciate a BMW without having knowledge on engines, design and other features associated with luxury vehicles.
Commodity culture is represented by Madonna in the BMW clip and by the capitalist nature of the clip existing as a promotional advert for the BMW brand. The world view of commodity culture is to appeal to the largest audience, which Madonna represents having been named the best selling female artist of all time. Another aspect of commodity culture is of its crude nature, again represented by the style of music Madonna is known for pop music, a genre often deemed to have been dumbed down to for the masses when compared with the inalienable culture classical music genre that requires knowledge in composition and history to beproperly comprehended. Similarly, the logic of being for sale is represented by the clips nature, a promotional advert, which is the underlying most important factor of commodity culture.
The BMW advert depicts the differences and similarities of inalienable and commodity culture through contrasting both together in the clip. The luxury brand of BMW, appealing to the rich, is juxtaposed with the commoditized pop singer Madonna demonstrating how similarities can exist between seemingly oppositional worldviews and logics.
