70% increase in streaming shows a huge shifting in the type of consumption, people are moving away from TV and finding other methods to watch, which is obviously streamable formats.

In layman's terms, more people streaming = less watching traditionally

Y'all are a mess lol. The VMA's has and always will be a youth driven show and the youth stream everything including tv events hence the massive increase in streaming. Going by the no gaga no ratings logic, that means when she performed at the '13 VMA's they tuned in to see her perform and were clearly disappointed hence Artpop's sales

They are not mutually exclusive and I DON"T want to see the monsters pull this as another source of ammo because they won't aim it at Rihanna or Beyonce...it'll be something they will use over Britney

You can argue that streaming is the reason for its decline, but I truly believe that streaming was primarily because everyone wanted to see Beyoncé and no one else. There weren't any other ratings drawers (Britney is WASHED, and Rihanna doesn't have the star power Beyoncé). I know I stopped watching the show halfway through because I became uninterested and had to work, but I made sure I went to MTV.com to watch Beyoncé's performance. After that, I was done.

The VMAs have always just been a glorified Teen Choice Awards with no awards prestige and has always focused on the "WTF" moments more than anything. You have pop stars with very little star power and talent dominating these awards because it's what they think millennials want. It's sadder that Viacom has to try to inflate TV ratings with flooding it on every other Viacom-owned station and still fail.

And I wish Beyoncé would stop flaunting the whole BLM movement thing but can't even stay for the BET Awards, which shows her just as much support EVERY year.
