My logical thought process is:
Visual album = immersive storytelling using the music as a lens or point of reference
Surprise release = a succinct and unmanufactured presentation of the material, at the concession of maximum profit from pre-promoting (think ad blocker)
Exclusive = artists given some level of control over the distribution channels profiting from the availability of their work.
Half empty vs half full I guess (me being half full of course).
Plus we've had the traditional pattern for what is decades now, it's nice to get a fresh approach that's not just an aesthetic switch up, but also substantial in the content offered.
