It's naive to think all women wear it because they like it. it's also naive to think everyone that wears it is forced to.
They aren't literally "forced" to wear it, but they've been brainwashed. They wear it because they are following a religion with sexist traditions. They think God wants them to wear this.
No one actually likes having no identity and feeling like they don't even exist. It's just how we are as humans.
I have a problem with Islam's fundamental vision, a vision that reduces women to the status of an object of desire and temptation, and thus forcing them to live their lives according to men by hiding their bodies.(If they show their skin and get raped, it's their fault after all, they wanted it). Islam teaches women to hide their sexuality but not to men how to supress their urges.
When asked, a few of my ex-classmates told me that no one forced them to wear it, and that it was a personnal choice and I believe them. But that's because they were conditioned and brainwashed by hundreds of years of "traditions" by their religion to think so. Now, the hijab or niqab is a part of the islamic identity and some women do wear it by choice, but it doesn't change the profoundly sexist nature of it.

I'm not having this discussion once again with a group of teenagers that haven't even walked past a woman wearing a burqa, or even a hijab for that matter. 75% of members in this thread now are ignorant and don't even know what they're talking about. Few on this entire forum have any knowledge on anything outside of their country so why waste my time.

Hmm, I'm all for freedom but for security reasons I don't think its use is reasonable. Showing one's face is not too much to ask I understand that it's part of their religion and wish a happy medium could be found.
Not banning them is equal to not taking a stand against a culture that has historically been tormenting women and objectifying them. It's time to make a change for the better.

It's very dangerous. Islam is a religion and it should not come before government, before nation's security. Ban it! It's not welcome in the western world.
