Condoms break. Can be improperly put on, which leads to them slipping off.
If you have a LIFE THREATENING disease, you should tell the person you're sleeping with. Period.

Let's just say this, I would press charges if I later found out a person I had sex with had HIV, even if I didn't catch it. That's probably one of the most selfish, immoral, and disgusting things anyone could ever do.

PEP.
It's the responsibility of the HIV positive to take the person to nearby clinic or a hospital within 72 hours of exposure. Most positive people however are on PrEP for health reasons with an undetectable viral load which dramatically decreases the likelihood of infection, if the rare eventuality of an accident occurs. Similar to a woman receiving emergency contraception.

It should be illegal as long as the person involved agrees to have sex knowing his status. As long as they wear protection, it shouldn't.

People who know their status must be under treatment and most are undetectable. That makes the risk of infection pretty low to none.
There are plenty of people out there who have contracted the virus and don't know it yet, should we punish them for making a mistake and passing it to someone else? We simply need more information out there about it and how it should be handled.
Some of you are making it seem like people who live with the condition are criminals or should be put away. They're also allow to live normal lives and science has advanced so much so people who contract the virus can have a normal life and live long.

ATRL once again showing its ignorance. Do you realize that it takes two to tango (or **** in this case)? If you are stupid enough to choose to have unprotected sex with somebody then you are the main responsible party for whatever happens. When I got pregnant I did not blame my ex; I took all the responsibility for being drunk, foolish, and, well, horny. I could have gotten an STD in the process, but luckily that wasn't the case.
What many of you don't even think about when it comes to these laws criminalizing people living with HIV (because that's all that it is) is that they can create a bad slippery slope. A person could simply lie (wow, what a concept) and claim that the other individual never disclosed their status --and the system will give them priority even if they did not become infected.

But, on the other hand, it's not only the victims fault. If you know you have HIV and you're going to have unprotected sex with anyone, you should be jailed.

you can get HIV even with a condom.

Pregnancy is not a life threatening disease, so let's stop the comparison
Fighting HIV is a big part of the line of work I'm going into, so no, I do not believe those infected should be criminalized. However, if you have an (again) LIFE THREATENING disease, yes it is YOUR responsibility to tell every person you sleep with. While we should fight the stigma against the disease, that does not mean we absolve Positive people of their responsibility and talk about this like it's a casual thing.

Condoms don't always work, can break, and believe it or not people often make mistakes and don't use them, it doesn't make them a hoe or a bad person or mean they deserve to have HIV, it just means they had bad judgement in that moment. Their status should always be disclosed, it's just a shame that there is such a huge stigma around HIV that prevents so many from disclosing their status.
Edit; obviously that doesn't include people who don't know their status, but if it's done with knowledge then it''s with the knowledge that someone could potentially get it from them.
