U.K. tabloid The Sun isn’t always the most reliable of sources, but a recent rumour concerning a certain Ms. Adkins could very well be true. Will Adele headline the Super Bowl halftime show in 2017?
An NFL source reportedly told The Sun: “There is nobody bigger in the world than Adele right now and organisers are doing absolutely everything they can to try to persuade her to sign up.
"She’s sold out every date on her tour, everyone wants a piece of her and they know they can bank on her bringing in the viewers. It’s Adele’s nerves that are the issue — it hasn’t been an easy sell.”
This year, headliner Coldplay was joined by a superstar-studded line-up of Beyonce, Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson that brought down the house. Adele could do the show solo, considering the global phenomenon that is 25, and the popularity of her current tour that wraps 11/15 in Mexico City. And as rumours go, you figure this one was going to get started at some point.
With her new Sony deal in place, the label will no doubt be seeking out U.S. opportunities, though manager Jonathan Dickins is notoriously incredibly picky over the gigs Adele accepts. More news as we have it.
