If they must purge the "old" songs, they should actually be old, and not popular! They should let a song have its run in the top 100 and not just chop it off after 20 weeks. If a song is in the top ten on iTunes it obviously deserves to chart on the US's popularity chart.

I agree, I think the Hot 100 should include all sales in the chart, regardless of when individual songs were released. Of course people will complain either way. Over on BJ, a lot of members were saying that the Official Charts Company should bring in a recurrency rule like in the US to prevent songs like KITN and Don't Stop Believing from charting. Poker Face and Sex on Fire still lurk at the bottom of the UK... Not that I'm complaining

I don't think that the Hot 100 is an accurate measure of US popularity anyway, so for me this is just one of many issues I have with the chart.
