Not really where but more like "when". And that's usually at night. Otherwise during the day, I usually find them in the middle of town. That's just Gastly. Haven't seen a wild Haunter or Gengar yet - there was a "nearby" Haunter once but I never encountered it.

I just wasted so many berries and great balls to catch a gyarados but it ran away the worst part is that this is literally the second time this has happened this week I have the worst luck, I've been hunting a Mr Mime as well but I've not been able to catch a single one despite one constantly being close.
I did get some good stuff today though New for today are Cloyster, Persian, Dragonair, Electrabuzz, Tangela, Wigglytuff, Flareon, Onyx, Mankey, Squirtle, and Gloom.
The tracking/nearby system is literally broken and doesn't work at all I was so happy I saw a doduo on it, so I went to some direction and it went from the second row to the first one until it went #1, spend like 30 minutes walking in each direction and when I couldn't find it I went back to the spot when it was #1 and it was completely off the list

Dont power it up or evolve it. You can catch a Staryu with 400-500cp when you are over level 15.
Yeah I'm just gonna collect and save everything up until I'm higher than level 6

I doubt a new gen will be released this year. The CEO never mentioned it on his list of things to come when asked about it, and Niantic is extremely slow at adding new features (See: Ingress).

what is the best way to get the most EXP? I'm evolving pidgy -> pidgeotto all the time i have like 25 pidgeotto All evolutions give 500 EXP right?? Also, strengthening pokemons up doesn't give EXP right? I was confused about this before....
The egg kilometers tracker is a mess. I was out with my bicycle before and I think I was running too fast cause I did a pretty big distance and only 1,5km were counted like WTF I did at least 4km. Maybe I have to slow down

Dratini are like... uncommon here, but I get them enough that I'll probably evolve Dragonair before I could ever catch one in the wild.

Yup, just catch a bunch of Pidgey/Weedle/Rattata, go somewhere where you have access to 2+ Pokestops in the immediate area, activate your lucky egg, then go town.
I once gained 3 levels in the 30 minutes my egg was activated because I was in a spot where I had access to 4 Pokestops at once, and 3 of them were lured. I got 200 xp for each catch, did a bunch of evolving for 1000 xp, and got 400 xp every 5 minutes by hitting all 4 Pokestops.
I really do wish they'd fix the tracker because it's annoying as **** and should be an ASAP update that doesn't include the 2 week updates because it basically BREAKS the game
