The airplay chart is a building chart, so each day is compared to the same day the week before.
Let's say a song has its first day on radio on a monday and starts with 12 million AI.
During the week till sunday it amasses 34 million AI.
On its second monday it gains 10 million AI - means the overall AI will lose 2 million because the second monday was 2 million less than the monday before.
I hope I explained it right and well.
That's why any radio deal is tricky, because the song will start out extraodinarily well during the deal but it won'T be able to maintain the updates the week after and lose AI. Some songs recover (because there is demand), some don't.
