The problem is that most pop artists just aren't resourceful enough as writers to make "music with meaning" without flubbing it up by getting too preachy or by having a far too tacit of an understanding of the issues they're trying to combat within a three to four minute runtime.
It's always been this way. From "Imagine" to "Dear Mr. President" to "Hard Out Here"
Yeah, I guess that happens to be true in most cases. Worse than such songs is the mindset and smug attitude with which they are released by artists.
I've never gotten flak for openly liking female singers. I freaked when I heard Daddy Lessons playing at a bar a while back, and nobody minded. And you should have seen me slaying I Really Like You at karaoke last week

I see this on this website all the time and it really doesn't reflect my life experiences at all.
Maybe it's different here because Germany is not an english speaking country?
If you go on most non-fomo'd music discussion boards you'll find many threads with titles like "who's your favorite female vocalist?" as though "female vocalists" is some sort of separate, niche genre.

And here are polls on "who are your favorite male vocalists?" or "favorite male fronted band?".
I don't think that's anything special. If a forum mostly discusses X then it's logical to open up a specific thread about Y since it's discussed less frequently.
