I'm sure it will be on par with these numbers (100-110k), which would mean that the gap between Katy and Gaga would've gone from nearly 300k in 2013 to 20k in 2016.

Exactly. Katy's drop of 557k to 130k is a 76.3% drop, while Gaga's drop of 600k to 219k was only a 63.5% drop.

Digital sales dropped drastically since 2013.
her numbers are nothing to write books about, yet they arent a total disaster either.

As far as most of the GP is concerned, it is. They see a new Katy song that has every banner on iTunes, what else would they think? And besides, even if some of them know, JT had the biggest sales week of the year with a random soundtrack single that isn't his first single, so that's not a valid excuse.

These numbers are really really bad for Britney but it's expectable, she's just not at her peak anymore.

I really don't care what it sells in the first place, I'm just excited to finally get new music.

It's still beyond me that people are using 2013 stats to compare. Like how stupid do you have to be. Sure, use JT, use Bey, even tho they're bigger than Katy, but don't pull 1+ year old receipts. Even the Selena Good For You comparison is a bit nonsensical.

She released it out of no where, with no radio deal, not on Spotify and some video that didn't even feature her.
Also, get all the kiis you want with these first week sales, as it'll have longevity

That's the key for success. Luke, c'mon...

You could use the same argument that it was absurd to use early 2011 stats in late 2013 against Gaga, yet every single Kat was doing it. Again, y'all are such hypocrites. And according to y'all, Katy is the biggest pop star, yada yada, but now when it's convenient for you, JT is bigger than her, Beyoncé is bigger than her. Y'all are too much. And the Good for You comparison is apt, that was less than a year ago.

"She bought up iTunes, she should be smashing!!"
Newsflash, people don't just sit on the iTunes Store looking for new music anymore. There are Spotify playlists for that. Honestly I'm not sure why she chose to partner with Apple and have it iTunes/Apple Music exclusive/banner promo because I think having Spotify with no/one banner(s) would have worked better for Katy.

This is literally irrelevant to the thread but I agree, comparing BTW numbers with Applause is stupid and while I can't speak for others I wouldn't compare them. But in saying that there was less of a gap between BTW and Applause, and the digital sales climate didn't fall as hard from 2011 to 2013 as it did from 2013 to 2016.
Nobody is claiming Katy is the biggest pop star. JT and Bey are basically legends that have been in the industry for so long (and still going strong). It's not a fair comparison. And Good For You was over a year ago, 13 months to be exact.
