Witness is not single material. It's great but it's not a single. She had at least 5 other songs to choose from if the hacker wasn't lying about having 7 songs, I'm sure she has more Max Martin material to choose from.

Releasing dual songs would almost certainly be tragic btw and nothing else is coming this quarter as Katy confirmed KP4 ain't ready.

I'm calling lead single in February, album in April. Rise included as a bonus track.

Also I think her having all the iTunes banners has something to do with it not being on Spotify. They probably wouldn't allow her to have them without a deal to make it Apple Music streaming exclusive for the duration of the banners' display aka first week.

OK we get it you hate the song but this makes no sense whatsoever. There has literally been 0 Olympics promo yet besides the video, which was released a bit after its iTunes premiere, and it's topping iTunes WW instantly because of Katy's name and the song alone.

It's certainly not doing so well right out the gate because of the Olympics partnership lol (which from what we know is US-only, anyway).

All I'm saying is that thank god it's for the Olympics because in the long run, this song would flop if it wasn't relevant in the Olympics. Obviously it would still top iTunes based on Katy's name alone. A frontloaded peak isn't what I want from Katy.

2nd single on February 2017 + Grammy performance to back it up.

Album will follow on March 2017. As she said before in an interview, she really wants to release an album on spring.

The world loves the song. It will be a huge hit regardless. Even after the Olympics is done I expect it to hang around for a good while.

Witness is literally, literally an incomplete demo. It's not even a fifth single. Nothing about it is radio friendly.

there's literally NO hook nothing memorable. she literally used all her absence and superbowl hype on this which is why it's #1 for now. it's cute for a second but damn it's hard to listen to. people will grow out of it REALLY quickly but thankfully it WON'T because it'll stick around due to the olympics.

Witness is surprisingly fresh. It's a more mature sound but it's STILL a signature-katy perfectly crafted BOP. If Witness isn't radio friendly then Rise is FAR from it

I'll still sing along to Rise and get hyped whenever I hear it but DAMN it's just not going to last. It's going to sound incredibly dated after the Olympics.

One element to all of Katy's classic pop songs is repetition. There's like NONE in this track. It will NOT be remembered. Once again, thank god it's a buzz track and it's for the Olympics otherwise it would be devastating for her career if it was her lead.

I think Witness is one of those songs that could be a trendsetting huge lead single, it has so much potential. It could flop miserably too, but I would take the risk.
