I think the strategy that SM is taking with SNSD is actually very smart (kinda similar to how Shinhwa is being managed right now). Each individual builds a career outside of SNSD, whether successfully or not, to keep the individual fandoms busy and the spirit going and then every year makes a comeback that's bound to be profitable (because SNSD). Yoona and Taeyeon's Chinese (AND Korean) fandoms will never let SNSD flop anw.

It's probably the biggest show that Mnet has ever produced. Not to mention that Korea is obsessed with hip-hop & rap artists & music and SMTM is the perfect platform to make these songs digitally strong. Plus, SMTM gets a lot of replays on TV...
