This is why so many groups are just mildly successful and eventually come to an end. The company always focus on one or two member and as a result the group as a whole is not really strong. The members that are left to rot drag down the popularity of the group and they soon cut their ties too.

When you think SNSD, it's exactly the opposite, the members are not promoted equally but all of them get extra activities and have their unique charms. That's why SNSD, the group, is such a strong brand even to this day. Because all the members are known to the public.
