The IOC has a fetish with giving places that haven't had the Olympics the games. It's partly their fault.

But it's also Brazil's fault. You don't get to have the two largest sporting events within one quadrennium without being EXTREMELY financially stable. They should have given up the Olympics once they got the World Cup but their egos got in the way.

And no, this will NEVER be cancelled. There is too much money put in by every single country and sponsors and the athletes for it to be cancelled due to this. The last time the Olympics were cancelled was because of World War 2. Not financial issues.

This might sound selfish but things better not get too ****ed up down there because I'm planning on studying a year abroad in Rio through my university next year. If the country falls apart the study aboard program will surely remove Brazil from their catalogue and then I won't be able to go! So the Brazilians better get their **** together and quickly!
