When you're at 600k and selling 25k a week, 1,000,000 is soooooooooo far away. Even if her album continues selling 25k every week (which is not happening - sales keep falling every day) it will need more than a year to become platinum.

I actually love Rihanna, but damn, I hate when people deny the obvious. Rated R flopped. After almost three months she's still at 600k, while some other artists, who released their records on the same date, are already at 1,500,000+.

It was a flop for such a huge artist.

who? susan boyle? adam lambert and lady gaga's the fame monster are not platinum sold. adam is behind rihanna and the fame monster will be over 700k this week makin it a little more than 100k more than rated r.

but how long did it take gggb to go platinum with monster hit umbrella and dont stop the music?

Lady Gaga's The Fame Monster actually sold 1,500,000 already. 700k is only for the EP, but everyone was buying the deluxe edition and it counted towards The Fame. The total for TFM is more than 1,5 million.

Rihanna's problem was that "Russian Mullet" song. That was dumbest choice for a lead single and is the reason why her album got a bad start. Its still selling consistently though and not dropping off, so I dont think it can be deemed a flop at this point if its still selling and has potential to sell more.

Can someone explain to me why "Hard" or "Fire Bomb" wasnt the first single?

Actually. If she sells 25k a week, she will have 1 mill in 16 weeks. Thats not that far

please clear up lady gaga projects for me because i am lost. the fame monster was released THE SAME DAY as rated r. so what are you talking about? is the monster the rerelease version or something?

doesnt the fame monster COUNTS AS HER SECOND ALBUM?

Lady Gaga released The Fame Monster in two versions: standard and deluxe. The standard charted separately and sold 700k to date. The deluxe (more people were buying this) counted as The Fame, because technically it was a re-release of The Fame, but it's still TFM.

Standard + deluxe = 1,500,000+

The Fame Monster is her 2nd album and The Fame has a deluxe edition which also includes the songs from The Fame Monster... my guess and what someone told me the other day is that Kirill is assuming all sales from October 23rd of The Fame came from the deluxe edition because Bad Romance is the current single. Its hard to say because The Fame was high in the charts even before TFM came out but it makes sense that a lot of the sames comes from there...

so you cannot add the sales of the fame deluxe to the fame monster standard according to billboard, right? how does billboard or soundscan classify the sales?

Yes, they are charting separately. But it's only technically, just because the deluxe contained songs from The Fame. But still, both albums are "The Fame Monster".

Just think one is a re-release with the new songs and the other is just the 8 songs as a new cd Billboard classifies them separately... so we dont know 100% for sure where all the sales from The Fame are coming from whether its people buying the deluxe edition because of the new songs or people buying the standard version just because of GaGa... but 1.5 million has been sold since then
