My mom always considered herself a "moderate" (though never worded herself as an Independent) in that she never chose one party over the other just because of unity. She's been so inspired throughout this election, donated for the very first time in all her years, been active and researched politics like she never has before. It's a dream for some people. I'm glad we are almost there to fulfill it.
