ok i just remember besides his books we read a paper he wrote about people using overly complicated jargon/random latin in academic stuff and how that's bad/dumb and that's a philosophy i still agree with now that i'm reading more academic stuff

I'm in full agreement with that. People who try to impress others with foolish language are only making their writing boring, petulant, and uninteresting. I've made sure to avoid it at all costs for my conference papers and dissertation.
